RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends the City Council:
1. Accept the work performed by Nationwide Contracting Services, Inc. dba Nationwide General Construction Services ("Nationwide"), for the Citywide Parkway Project - Maintenance Zones 6 and 7, Project, City Project No. 20-07, and authorize the City Clerk to file the Notice of Completion.

2. Authorize the City Manager to release the retention monies thirty-five (35) days after the Notice of Completion filing date; release the Labor and Material Bond seven (7) months after the filing date; and release the Faithful Performance Bond one (1) year after the filing date.

BACKGROUND:
On June 2, 2020, the City Council awarded a construction contract to Nationwide for the Citywide Parkway Project - Maintenance Zones 6 and 7.

The City conducts an annual capital improvement program repairing, improving, and installing existing and new concrete parkway infrastructure. The scope of work for the Citywide Parkway Project ("Project") consists of localized reconstruction of curb and gutter, cross gutters and spandrels, sidewalks, driveway approaches, accessible ramps, new concrete sidewalks, and other work needed to complete the Project in accordance with the project specifications.

Concrete improvements located within the City's parkways and streets require ongoing repair and maintenance due to age, maturing trees, soil conditions, water intrusion, and traffic loads.
The parkway improvements are citywide, but the project focused on Maintenance Zones 6 and 7, which comprise of the City's Westside neighborhoods, south of West 19th Street and west of Newport Boulevard.
